David J. Kovach, Of Counsel to Licata & Toerek, is one of only five attorneys in Ohio who are certified by the Ohio State Bar Association’s Specialty Board as a specialist in both workers’ compensation law and employment and labor law. A veteran trial and appellate attorney of more than 30 years, Dave graduated from Cleveland State University and the Cleveland Marshall College of Law. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, and the Supreme Court of Ohio, and has litigated in Florida and Pennsylvania, as well as throughout Ohio.
A former Assistant Ohio Attorney General and a former high school and college umpire, Dave has lectured in Legal Writing, Oral Advocacy, and Trial Advocacy at the Cleveland Marshall College of Law. He is a member of the American and Ohio Bar Associations. A member of the Ohio Bar Association’s Employment Law, Workers’ Compensation, and Litigation Sections, Dave formerly served on the Akron Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law and Workers’ Compensation Law Committees, as well as the Investigative Subcommittee of the Association’s Grievance Committee.
